Pay close attention to the ruler in the animated card. I lined one end of the ruler to the highest arrow point of the gate each time. As I pivot the ruler, it stays on that same point... making the lines radiate out to give your eye the illusion of proper perspective. Look at the samples at the bottom of the page for other examples and see if you can find the "point" I used. (A straight piece of scrap paper stretched from the pivot point to the sidewalk lines with help you see this on your computer screen).

The stamps used in the above card are: Brick Wall (T2), Gate (M305), Branches (N61), Bending Girl (D553)
The Wall was inked using the Double-Inking Technique (see Double-Inking Animation)
Inks used: Raven Black, Gray

• In each of these three samples the pivot point (dot) is in a different place to show how that placement changes the perspective.

• I left out any other images to emphasize this technique without distractions. You don't need the pivot point drawn in because you can use something already in your picture.

• Notice how the angle of the lines in the first two boxes are different because of where the dot is.

• Now look at the box to the right... here I lowered the point, lowering the horizon line.

• Each line has an increased or decreased angle depending on where you put the point.

Stamp used in above card: Woman stamp (F566), lines drawn in.
